These beautiful flowers, Bleeding Hearts, were my grandmother's favorite flowers, and I can understand why. She was very close to her Lord Jesus, and she knew that His heart bled and died for her, and this flower made her think of Him and His sacrifice. The scripture above, gives me quite a strong and welcome promise that even though my heart may fail, God will strengthen it and keep me going. He even promises to be "my portion forever." That's a long time. When God strengthens my heart, it has to be stronger that ever before. It brings to mind another scripture, Philippians 4:13, which says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Thank you, Father God, for strengthening me just when I need it most.
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." (NIV)
