The rock is visible through the fog. If we mover farther from the rock, it will still be visible, but there is a distance beyond which the rock will not be visible. We cannot tell that it is there by our sense of sight. We cannot see it, but is still there. If we move closer, we will see it again.
Our relationship with Father God can be like that rock in the fog. When we are colse to God, we can see Him easily. As we move farther away, He gets dimmer in our sight. We can move far enough away that He is barely discernible, and we can move far enough away from God that we (almost) never think of Him. But, like the rock, God is still there whether we can see Him or not. He hasn't moved away from us. No, it is we who have moved away from Him. Do you know how hard it is to get back that close relationship with God? Just say, "Jesus, I need you." He will be right where He has always been, right beside us, ready to help. May we perceive God with our hearts always.
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble." (NLT)
