"You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed." (NLT)
As I looked up from taking this photo, I saw the grandeur of the Teton Mountain Range. I went from the detail to the big picture, both there to be seen at the same time. I got to choose my focus. The big picture is always made up of a myriad of details that we often overlook. Or, conversely, we focus on details and ignore the big picture. As, in the case of this picture-taking instance, both choices resulted in scenic beauty.
This Scripture verse tells us that God does the same thing, with one exception; He can focus on both at the same time. He knows every detail of my life, and He knows the big picture, the really big picture, my eternal destination. He doesn't determine how I will choose, but He knows my choice before I make it. His desire is that each of us will choose life in Jesus, but He will not force that decision on anyone. So, if you chose as I have, I'll be seeing you in heaven.
