Commit to the Lord

Proverbs 16:3

This bird has just taken off, and he is committed to flight.  His feet are stretched backward ((they have just pushed off), his beak is stretched forward, and his wings are hard at work providing lift.  (I don't think I've ever seen a bird looking back over his shoulder to see where he came from.)  He is definitely going someplace, no doubt about it.  It think that is the way God would have us commit to the tasks He assigns us.  Push off with our feet, look forward toward the goal, and use the wings He gives us to move forward toward the goal, never looking back.  We are to do as Paul says in Philippians 3:14, "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (NIV).  If God has put the goal out there for us to reach for, we can be assured it is a worthwhile one.

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans." (NIV)
