"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. (NIV)
Purity and Snow
Snow is often used to describe purity, and in the desert of southern Arizona, that seems appropriate. As you can see from this picture, snow has covered the sharp spines of the Saguaro, the prickles of the prickly pear, the pointy parts of the ocotillo, and it has softened the branches of all the other various cacti. In plain words, it has softened the desert. Remove the snow and the sharpened points of all the cacti will gladly prick your skin.
We achieve purity by a different covering, the blood of Jesus. When Father God looks at us who have received Jesus as Savior, He sees us through the blood of Jesus, and He sees us as pure no matter the extent of our sins. As we learn to live the life Jesus teaches, we even become less sharp, less spiny, and less prickly to our neighbors, making us easier to live with. As we allow the blood of Jesus to affect us, we do become more compassionate and more loving. Thank you, Jesus, for your cleansing blood. May I remember its covering every day.
