The jumbled ground you see in the foreground above came down in a landslide from the mountain seen in the background on June 23, 1925.  It crossed the Gros Ventre River and dammed it up.  Two years later part of the dam failed and the town of Kelly was wiped out with the loss of six lives.  I show this picture to remind us that we are not guaranteed tomorrow.  All of a sudden, the lives of the people in Kelly changed forever.  Six of them entered eternity whether they were ready or not.  Be ready.  "Today is the day of salvation."  God gave His Son, Jesus, to pay for all the sins of all men.  So, whether you accept it or not, the price of your sins has already been paid.  To accept this sacrifice, all you need to do is ask Jesus to enter your heart and to forgive you of all your sins.  It's that easy.

For those of us who have already accepted Jesus, there is still the reminder that what we put off doing today may never get done.  Is there a friend who needs to hear that you care?  Is there someone you've been meaning to talk to about Jesus?  Is there a kindness you can do for your neighbor?  Are there bad feelings or is there a disagreement that needs to be cleared up?  Does someone need to hear you say, "I love you?"  Do it today.  You won't be sorry.

"For God says, 'At just the right time, I heard you.  On the day of salvation, I helped you.  Indeed "the right time" is now.  Today is the day of salvation'" (NLT).

Today Is the Day
