This travertine terrace in Yellowstone National Park is made up of particles not seen in the water that formed the terraces. The carbonate minerals dissolved in the water form limestone as they precipitate from the flowing water. These terraces were there in the water all the time. They were just not seen or barely visible in the water that carried them. As the water evaporates, the terraces take shape. I believe that happens in our lives, and particularly in our Christian lives. We could say that the terraces are the "fruit" of what was dissolved in the water, just as the fruit in our lives was formed by many experiences in our past. For those of us who are Christians, this past involves input from Sunday school teachers, or pastors, or youth leaders, or just friends who told us about Jesus. As we live we are forming fruit also. I'm praying that some of the unseen acts of my life may provide beauty in the eyes of God as well as blessings in the hearts of men. My desire is to preach a sermon every day by the way I live.
The Seen from the Unseen
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (KJV).
