There is a lot missing between the two verses quoted above. That's the time when God created the earth, Sun, stars, moon; the whole universe. In His act of creation, He created in such a manner that the whole is made up of parts, each one having a specific role to play for the good of all. He tells us in I Corinthians 12:17,19: "If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? If they were all one part, where would the body be?"
Just as the bee and the flower are dependent upon each other for life itself, so are we as the body of Christ dependent upon each other. Some parts are more visible, such as the pastor, but where would we be without the ushers, without those who clean the building, without those who prepare and show the words for worship, without those with whom we converse every time we get together, without those we fellowship with outside the church building? It would be a different church, an ineffective church, a church without life, and a church unpleasing to God. I am extremely glad to be a member of Faith Community Church East in Tucson, and I hope you are a member of a similar church. If you are, we are both greatly blessed.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth....Then God looked over all He had made, and He saw that it was very good." (NLT)
