The bee in the photo is working hard to provide food for his home, the beehive.  He will eat of the fruit of his labors, but there is an additional benefit that the bee may know nothing about.  While he is gathering nectar for the beehive, he is also gathering pollen on his feet, the means of procreation for the flower.  While doing his work, gathering food, he is doing good for others.

We are called to do the same, to do whatever our work is as if we were working directly for the Lord.  When we do so, we will be rewarded, but from the Lord not necessarily from our human bosses.  When we work hard and let people know about our faith in Jesus Christ, we are providing a witness of our integrity, and the integrity of other followers of Christ.  We may be given an opportunity to speak to others about our faith in Jesus, explaining why we follow His direction.  I can fulfill the Great Commission where I live and work and so can you.  That's my mission field as well as yours.

Perks of Our Work

Colossians 3:23-24

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward." (NIV)
