The Athabasca Glacier is a large glacier that descends from deep in the mountains of Alberta, Canada.  It stops short of the Icefields Parkway, or maybe they planned the road so it wouldn't have to go over the glacier.  It is an impressive glacier clothed in a surrounding cloak of high mountains.  It is certainly worth a stop along the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper National Parks.
