There is something about looking at a tree or a forest that brings peace to my heart. I picture walking among the trees and my soul is at rest. Peace is a gift from God, a way to slow down our hectic way of life. Peace shuts down the screams and noise of the world all around us, and we all need that peace. As I write this, I am in need of God's peace because the constant political clamor is becoming overwhelming. Jesus' words in John 14:27 provide me with great peace, and I lean on those most precious words each day: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (NIV). I know that all of Scripture is divinely inspired, but when Jesus, Himself, speaks, my heart is doubly blessed. Thank you, Jesus, for your peace. I receive it every day!
"Let the trees of the forest sing, let them sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth" (NIV).
